Terms of Service

DegreeCap is an information discovery, material-request, document-delivery, and organization-connection platform operated by Sunship Inc. in Japan.

By creating an account or using DegreeCap, you agree to these Terms of Service and acknowledge the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

You must provide accurate information, use a role appropriate to you, and have legal capacity to accept these Terms or use DegreeCap with the involvement of an authorized parent or legal guardian. Applicable local age and consent requirements take precedence.

Students aged 16 or older may generally register independently. Students under 16 must use DegreeCap with parent or legal guardian involvement and consent. A guardian name and at least one guardian contact method may be required. A separate Parent account is not required.

You are responsible for protecting login credentials and activity under your account. Notify DegreeCap promptly if you believe an account has been compromised. Do not share passwords or attempt to access another user's account.

Educational, Grant, deadline, eligibility, immigration, and organization information may change. Users must verify important information directly with the relevant organization or authority before making educational, financial, immigration, or other important decisions.

A DegreeCap material request asks a participating organization for information or documents. Making a material request does not itself create a contractual relationship with that organization or guarantee a response or delivery.

Users must submit accurate request information and may not misuse request, delivery, payment, or organization-connection features.

A material request through DegreeCap is not:

• An application for admission
• An application for a grant or scholarship
• Acceptance by a School
• Approval of financial assistance
• A guarantee of response or outcome

DegreeCap does not process admission, grant, or scholarship applications and does not make admission, scholarship, grant-award, or visa decisions.

Schools and Grant Providers are responsible for ensuring information and materials they submit are accurate to the best of their knowledge, lawful, appropriately authorized, reasonably current, free from malicious content, and non-infringing.

DegreeCap may review, reject, request correction, suspend publication, or remove content or accounts when reasonably necessary for security, legal compliance, quality control, fraud prevention, or Terms enforcement.

DegreeCap is free for Students, Parents/Guardians, and Teachers. Certain services for Schools and Grant Providers may require payment. Applicable fees are displayed before payment and may change over time. Payments may be processed by third-party providers.

Fees are generally non-refundable once the requested materials have been successfully delivered through DegreeCap. If DegreeCap is unable to deliver the materials because of a technical failure attributable to the DegreeCap service, the applicable fee may be refunded or credited as appropriate.

Schools and Grant Providers are responsible for the content and accuracy of materials they upload. Incorrect, outdated, incomplete, or otherwise problematic content supplied by an organization is not, by itself, a DegreeCap delivery-system failure. This section does not exclude mandatory refund or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

You may not:

• Use DegreeCap unlawfully, deceptively, fraudulently, or to harass others
• Submit malicious code, false identities, spam, or abusive automated traffic
• Bypass security, authorization, rate limits, payment, or delivery controls
• Scrape, copy, interfere with, reverse engineer, or overload the service except where law expressly permits
• Upload content you are not authorized to use

DegreeCap and its software, branding, layout, and original content are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Organizations and users retain rights they hold in submitted content while granting DegreeCap the permissions reasonably necessary to host, display, process, deliver, and administer that content through the service.

DegreeCap may link to or depend on third-party services, organizations, websites, authentication, storage, or payment providers. DegreeCap does not control third-party services and is not responsible for their independent terms, availability, content, or practices.

DegreeCap does not guarantee admission, enrollment, funding, scholarships, grants, visas, organization responses, document accuracy, or any educational, financial, immigration, or other outcome.

We work to provide a reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability. Features may be changed, suspended, limited, or discontinued for maintenance, security, legal, operational, or product reasons.

DegreeCap may restrict, suspend, or terminate access when reasonably necessary to address Terms violations, security risks, fraud, unlawful conduct, harmful content, non-payment, legal requirements, or risks to users or the service.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, DegreeCap is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. Organization-supplied information and documents remain the responsibility of the supplying organization. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or warranties that cannot lawfully be excluded.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, DegreeCap and Sunship Inc. will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive losses, loss of opportunity, or decisions made in reliance on organization-supplied information. Mandatory liability that cannot legally be limited remains unaffected.

We may update these Terms as the service, law, or business practices change. Revised Terms will be posted with a new effective date. Additional notice or renewed acceptance will be requested where reasonably required.

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan.

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the use of DegreeCap shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Mito District Court in Japan as the court of first instance, except where mandatory applicable law provides otherwise.
